A merry monday to all!
I thought I’d take this opportunity to advertise something called Mobile Monday. For anyone interested in mobile media research, networking and future of business this monthly recurring meet-up is something to make a calendar note of.
The MoMo concept started in Finland in late 2000. “A couple of well-known Finnish visionaries, invited the who’s who of the Finnish mobile industry to a pub for an informal get-together and perhaps a warming drink. The only suitable time? Monday evening,” the Mobile Monday Global explains.
As the name of the website hints at, MoMo has since become a global success with 64 active chapters around the world and 14 in the pipeline. Besides Helsinki, the Scandinavian chapters are Sweden, Norway and Copenhagen – the latter being in effect since summer 2007. It’s fascinating to think that every first Monday of the month, people are gathering after work in 64 different cities around the world to learn about mobile media.
The next MoMo meet-up in Copenhagen will be on October 6th on the theme of “Mobile Collaboration.” It’s free to sign up so there’s not much to consider really. Just two days before the New Media Days conference, look at it as an unofficial warm-up. Look me up while you’re there. I’m the moustache.
Oh and take a look at this presentation from the latest Amsterdam MoMo: “15 tips to create value for mobile” by Rudy De Waele. It’s a good one.
