Today is exactly 4 weeks before New Media Days kicks off with two conference days of inspiring media talks and entrepreneurial networking. Last week we were happy to feel that all the hard planning had paid off as we put up a big SOLD OUT sign on the website.

Although there’s a waiting list to sign on to, the sweet’n’sour fact is that Tappehallerne has reached its limit of eager conference goers. To make amends, I thought I’d tip you off on another great conference nearby:

Today is exactly 2 weeks before PICNIC kicks off with three conference days of creative media minds and innovative entertainment industries. You know there’s always room for one more at a picnic; this one is taking place in Amsterdam and has tickets ranging from 95 to 1245 euros.

I’m looking forward to going myself and I’ll be sure to blog some fresh insight as it’s being delivered from the stage. These are some of my programme favorites:

We Think: The Power of Mass Creativity
Keynote and conversation: Charles Leadbeater, author and advisor to Tony Blair, and Clay Shirky, author and leading Internet thinker, on the conflict between the rising surge of mass collaboration and the attempts to retain top-down control.

    Design as a collaborative process
Bill Moggridge, founder of IDEO, and Younghee Jung, senior design manager at Nokia, talk about new design practices and how creators can involve the people they want to create for in their work?

    Connecting Worlds
A presentation and an update on vibrant and fast-moving technological and creative developments in cities across Africa, from mobile banking to new communication patterns.

    Data Visualization
Artists, scientists and designers are exploring software aesthetics and developing new languages for interactive and visual expression. How can we make information intuitively meaningful?

    The future of television
A conversation with Mike T. Fries of Liberty Global, the second-largest cable TV operator in the world, about the new interactive European TV viewer, webifying television, and building digital confidence.

Hope to see you – both at New Media Days and at PICNIC.
