The Obama Moment – How New Media Changed Politics

In less than a month the next president of the USA will be elected. This session will take you behind the scenes of Barack Obama’s New Media-driven presidential campaign.

SPEAKER: Peter Leyden (US), head of Next Agenda Project
MODERATOR: Martin Krasnik (DK), journalist, Weekendavisen

Peter Leyden believes that Barack Obama’s political campaign has lead to the birth of a new kind of politics. He understands this change as a series of paradigm shifts in fund-raising – from the wealthy few to the middle class many, shifts in organizational models – from top-down to bottom-up, and shifts in the use of media – from old broadcast media to new social media. Hear Peter Leyden explain what is happening from his unique vantage point that provides understanding of both technology and politics.
